A wonderful long day’s walking which left our hotel for a slightly longer walk than planned!
The day started with a walk around the hillside to the local village of Tramacastilla before heading on to the hills to the south. Here we were in deep pine forest, an ancient lndscape inhabited by pine martens and deer.
We descended to our lunch spot under the pines at Calomarde before the afternoon took us high into the gorges that are such a defining part of the area. A stunning walk brought us down to the the valley and a series of mills whc led us to our vans for the surprisingly long return ride. We had gone along way!
I saw the lunch spread. Outrageous! Please tell my wife I had to make do with a cheese sandwich and the washing up. No justice.
