We left our hotel in Albi for the south. The drive became increasingly wet and slow as the traffic began to emerge from Toulouse at the start of the Pentecost holiday. Eventually we made it to Montreal and began our walk nearby at Lasserrre de Prouille, a curious town built in a circular form to discourage attackers.
Our walk coincided with the only dry portion of the day as we made our way in the very footsteps of Saint Dominic to the monastery of Prouille. As the day progressed the rain got heavier again and our picnic ended up by being a wet one – we were unable to reproduce the miracle of Saint Dominic as walked through the thunderstorm and remained dry while all around were getting soaked.
In the afternoon we visited Mirepoix, a wonderful example of a Bastide town, before continuing ur walk into the little village of Camon where the superb Abbaye – Chateau of Camon awaited us.
Pictures were hard to come by in this rainy day but we did manage one or two over our excellent dinner!
